I'm 35 years old and for the past few years have had a lot of problems with acne and some cystic acne that seems to be brought about by stress and my wild hormones.

I have been using Dermalogica Medibac Cleanser but am about to run out. I also use products from a former esthetician including a daily scrub, sulfur soap, 5% Benzoyl Peroxide Gel, Beta day cream, Glycolic Night Cream, and sometimes Dermalogica oil control lotion. I'm actually going to run out of most of these products soon.

I'm wondering if you can suggest anything that might be better than what I am currently using. My skin is very oily, but it is obviously out of balance as it is also dry in some areas-or better put, not hydrated. I know Obagi is good, but I'm not ready to make a commitment to their entire system. In fact I don't have to stick to 1 system. What products would you recommend?

I truly think you should give Obagi a try - the acne system only has three products in the line and it is extremely effective. Obagi is a physician line of products and the Clenziderm MD system will most likely get your skin back into balance whereas right now it seems to be stripped of any natural moisture you might be making, which is also adding to the over production of oil problem. (i.e. you are oily but dehydrated.)

The kit contains a cleanser, and two treatment products that use both Salicylic Acid and Benzoyl Peroxide to treat existing acne and prevent future flare-ups.

The Benzoyl Peroxide has been molecularly altered so each molecule is small enough to travel deep within the pore to kill acne-causing bacteria instead of sitting on top of the skin like most over the counter Benzoyl products, which is not as effective and can dry the skin.

Salicylic Acid keeps pores clear of dead skin cells and oil so blackheads can't form. These products are designed for face as well as trouble areas of the body.
